BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) _ The Danish mission in Beirut is under

attack today as thousands of Islamic extremists protest the use of

caricatures of Islam's prophet.

The building has been set ablaze. Officials say the extremists

tried to break through a security barrier, prompting troops to fire

tear gas and water cannons from fire engines to try to disperse

The protesters are upset with caricatures of Islam's revered

prophet, Muhammad, that appeared in European newspapers.

Witnesses say at least ten protesters were injured and taken

away in ambulances.

One Islamic official denounced the violence, saying there were

infiltrators among the protesters who's aim is to ``harm the

stability of Lebanon.''
