JONESBORO, AR - The National Weather Service says last month was the warmest January on record in Arkansas, just beating out the record high set in 1907.

But the data is preliminary, and the weather service says the ranking might change.  The average temperature was 48.5 degrees Fahrenheit in January.  That's 8.6 degrees above the long-term average of 39.9 degrees Fahrenheit.

Other warm Januarys came in 1933, 1923, and 1950.
