State Police Probe Possible Supremacists Link to Cop Killer

FEBRUARY 9, 2006 - Posted at 7:58 a.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Investigators who are piecing together the movements of a teenager after a hatchet-and-gun attack in a Massachusetts gay bar want to know whether he drove to Arkansas to meet white supremacists.

A source close to the investigation has told The Associated Press that 18-year-old Jacob Robida drove straight to Arkansas, which indicates he had planned his route.

Robida shot and killed himself after a police chase ended Saturday in Norfork.  Moments earlier, Robida shot and killed Gassville police officer Jim Sell after a traffic stop.  As police closed in at Norfork, Robida also shot and killed a female acquaintance who was in the car with him.

Investigators say they are looking at whether Robida had sought out one of at least two white supremacist groups in north Arkansas.
