NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - The last of the Arkansas National Guard soldiers assigned to New Orleans have pulled out of the hurricane-ravaged city.
The Arkansas soldiers were deployed September 1, two days after Hurricane Katrina blew through the city. A total of over 2,600 airmen and soldiers with the Arkansas National Guard deployed to Louisiana and Mississippi. Some also served at Fort Chaffee in western Arkansas, where hurricane refugees were housed for a time.
Louisiana officials expressed their appreciation for the work done by the soldiers, saying their work won't be forgotten.
