Kwan Tearfully Pulls Out of Olympics

TURIN, Italy (AP) _ Michelle Kwan says it's ``always been a

dream to win the Olympics.'' But the figure skater says she

respects the games too much to compete when she's not 100 percent.

Kwan has withdrawn from the Turin Games because of a groin

injury. Emily Hughes has been selected as her replacement.

Kwan is a nine-time U-S champion, a five-time world champion,

and a two-time Olympic medalist. But she's never won an Olympic

gold medal.

Asked about that today, Kwan replied that it's always an honor

to represent your country, and she's learned that it's not about

the gold, but about the spirit of it.

She says she has no regrets and that she tried her hardest.
