Hearing on Study of Changing Demographics in Arkansas Slated Today

FEBRUARY 13, 2006 - Posted at 8:58 a.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A group called Arkansas 20-20, created last year by the Legislature, has slated a hearing today at Little Rock to begin the process of looking at the state's changing demographics, and how to deal with them.

The name of the group refers to the year 2020, not vision.  The Legislature created Arkansas 20-20 to help prepare the state for the impact of shifting population characteristics.  Those changes include increases in the number of older people and Hispanic people, and other shifts in social, economic and health matters.

The hearing is to start at 10 a.m. today in Room 171 of the Capitol.
