Region 8 School Spared by State Education Board

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state Education Board has ruled that the Midland School District won't have to merge with neighbors.  The board made the decision after administrators explained that school patrons donated more than $400,000 to cover a shortfall in the district's budget.

The district will remain under state control until its financial situation improves and local officials prove they can keep the 568-student district from falling again into fiscal distress.  The district serves Floral and Pleasant Plains.
