LITTLE ROCK, AR - Democrat Mike Beebe and Republican Asa Hutchinson are getting more pointed in their criticism as their gubernatorial campaigns take off.

Hutchinson says Beebe's economic proposals are "backward."  Beebe says the Hutchinson campaign is acting "silly" in its criticism of him.

Tuesday, Hutchinson questioned why his opponent would propose giving the governor control of $50 million in the General Improvement Fund.

Hutchinson said that when Beebe was a leader in the state Senate, he and other legislators headed an effort to take control of the fund from Governor Mike Huckabee, a Republican.  Beebe is touring the state to tout his economic ideas and says he has gotten an enthusiastic response from voters.  Beebe will appear in Paragould tomorrow (Thursday) to host an "economic town hall forum."
