State Grants Liquor Permit to Outback of Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR - K8 News has learned that the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission's board granted a "conditional" private club liquor permit Wednesday afternoon to the Outback Steakhouse in Jonesboro.

Outback applied for the permit in November 2005, and was originally denied its request last month.  After an appeal, the board took up the issue again yesterday and granted the license on a 4-1 vote.

ABC board chairman Ron Fuller confirmed the news by phone for K8 News, as did Outback-Jonesboro spokesman John Ferron.  Fuller said Craighead County Sheriff Jack McCann and Judge Dale Haas opposed the permit request, but that no Jonesboro city officials went on record in opposition.
