LITTLE ROCK (AP) _ In a matter of seconds, a ten-story dormitory
on the campus of the state's medical school in Little Rock was
brought down by a demolition crew. The horizontal brick building
caved in at the middle and was buried in clouds of dust.
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is replacing the
Jeff Banks dormitory with a new 500-thousand square foot addition
to the Medical Center hospital. The dorm was built in the late
1950s for two million dollars.
Controlled Demolition Incorporated handled the implosion today
and had been preparing for it for months.
