Police Investigating Mysterious Death of Two Newport Men

FEBRUARY 20, 2006 - Posted at 10:46 a.m. CST

NEWPORT, AR - Mysterious circumstances surround the weekend deaths of two Newport men, but police say they don't suspect foul play in the deaths of 49-year-old Ricky Billingsley, Sr. and 51-year-old Tyrell Watkins.

Newport police detective Donnie Schulz told K8 News that officers responded to 1013 Live Oak Drive Sunday afternoon at 3:18 p.m., where they found the bodies of Billingsley and Watkins inside a pick-up truck parked inside a closed garage at the home.  Schulz says the the vehicle was not running and that police do not suspect foul play in the deaths.  When pressed for further details, Schulz said he could not comment further at this time other than to say the bodies had been sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.

Schulz said the residence where the bodies were found was the home of Billingsley, and the bodies were intially found by his niece, who then contacted police.
