Lady Cop Gets Honors as Blytheville's Police Officer of the Year

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - Blytheville Police Officer Rhonda Byrd has won her second award as the city's officer of the year for saving a 2-year-old boy who was choking on a meatball.  She was also named the city's officer of the year in 2000 when she saved a victim who had been stabbed in the chest.

Byrd began her law enforcement career in 1995 as a reserve officerwith the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, before accepting a position with the Gosnell Police Department in 1996.  She joined the Blytheville police force three years later.
