BENTONVILLE, AR - Wal-Mart's profits are up.

The Bentonville-based retail giant said this morning that aggresive holiday advertising helped boost sales by 8.6 percent in the last quarter.

Those sales helped increase the company's fourth-quarter earnings by 13.4 percent.  Profits rose to $3.6 billion, or 86 cents per share, for the quarter, which ended January 31st.

Wal-Mart started its holiday sales campaign early last year, launching its ads and holiday price cuts November 1 in an effort to boost year-end results.
