FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) _ A Springdale man convicted of
first-degree murder for the slaying of a Fayetteville musician has
been sentenced to life in prison.
Jurors deliberated five hours Friday on a sentence for
24-year-old Fernando Navarro, who had been convicted the day before
of the November 25th, 2004, murder of 41-year-old David Edwards.
Navarro was also convicted on charges of aggravated robbery,
residential burglary and theft of property.
The jury recommended two life sentences, one on the murder
charge and one for accomplice to aggravated robbery.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor John Threet said Navarro demonstrated no
remorse for the slaying.
