Port Deal Lacks Common Sense, New Jersey Governor Says in Broadcast

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Democrats say the Bush administration didn't

do a good enough job investigating a United Arab Emirates company

before it was allowed to buy operations at six major U-S ports.

In the Democratic Party's weekly radio address, New Jersey

Governor Jon Corzine says the deal ``fails the basic

test of common sense'' in terms of national security.

New Jersey is suing to block the deal with state-run Dubai Ports


Despite opposition from members of both parties, President

Bush's national security adviser insists there's no going back on

the deal.

Corzine says the president didn't know about the deal until it

was approved, and that the ``lack of disciplined review is
