WASHINGTON (AP) - Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee picked health as the theme of the National Governors Association winter meeting.
Huckabee is chairman of the organization. Forty-nine of the nation's governors are attending the meeting. And they are hearing about initiatives that are familiar to people in Huckabee's home state.
Huckabee is using the forum to promote healthy lifestyles. Huckabee says states would see their Medicaid bills actually decrease if citizens would maintain a normal weight, get moderate exercise and avoid tobacco.
Huckabee is considering a run for president in 2008. He plans to visit New Hampshire tomorrow, a state that figures early on on the presidential race.
