Arkansas Unemployment Dips in January

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas' unemployment rate dipped nine-tenths of a percentage point to 3.8 percent last month.  The national jobless rate for January is 4.7 percent.

On a yearly basis, the biggest gainer in employment in Arkansas was the government sector.  It added 4,400 jobs from January a year ago.

The unemployment rate for minorities in Arkansas for January was 7.2 percent; the jobless rate for whites was 3.1 percent.

The youth unemployment rate was 13.9 percent.  The jobless rate for minority youth was 20.8 percent and for white youth it was 12 percent.
