Huckabee Says More Consensus Needed on Special Education

LITTLE ROCK, AR - More consensus among legislators is needed before Governor Huckabee calls them to Little Rock for a special session to fix the state's school funding problems.  That's what Huckabee said yesterday after a conference call with members of the Legislature to detail plans for a special session expected this year.

The special session would address a state Supreme Court ruling that the current funding system is unconstitutional and inadequate.

Huckabee said that, since this year is an election year, he would like legislators to meet soon.  He said he'd like that to happen before the end of this month.  As he has said before, he said that if there isn't widespread agreement on how to deal with the matter, then there won't be a special session.
