PARAGOULD, Ark. (AP) _ A state investigation into the Marmaduke

School District has been turned over to federal prosecutors.

Special Prosecutor Jack McQuary of Little Rock and Arkansas

State Police Sergeant Jerry Digman began the probe last fall after

Greene County Prosecutor Brent Davis stepped aside to avoid the

appearance of a conflict of interest.

The state police sergeant says the investigation has been turned

over to the U.S. Attorney's office at Little Rock. The office

confirmed that it has received the file. Investigators would not

elaborate on the case.

Among other findings, a legislative audit committee in June said

that then-School Superintendent Jerry Don McIntosh was a board

member at a local bank that conducted business with the district.

McIntosh announced in November that he was quitting as

superintendent.
