PARAGOULD, AR - Federaral prosecutors will now handle what has been a statewide investigation into the Marmaduke School District.

Special Prosecutor Jack McQuarry of Little Rock and Arkansas State Police Sergeant Jerry Digman began the proble last fall after 2nd Judicial District Chief Prosecutor Brent Davis stepped aside to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest.

The state police sergeant says the investigation has been turned over to the U.S. Attorney's office at Little Rock.  The office confirmed that it has received the file.  Investigators would not elaborate on the case.

Among other findings, a legislative audit committee in June said that then school-superintendent Jerry Don McIntosh was a board member at a local bank that conducted business with the district.  McIntosh announced in December that he was quitting as superintendent.
