KENNETT, MO -- Kennett police officers were called out to the Bank of America on Independence Avenue Monday morning after an armed man walked into the bank demanding cash that wasn’t his.

"Approximately 9:18 this morning, we received a call…a 911 call from the Bank of America here in Kennett…advised they had an armed robbery," said Chief Tate of the Kennett Police Department.

Tate said that the suspect was armed and got away with six to 10 thousand dollars.  FBI agents also arrived at the scene to interview bank employees.

This was a very quick robbery.  It took the suspect roughly two minutes to walk in, flash his gun and walk out with federal money.

“It was a very quiet robbery,” said Tate.  “The subject walked in…it was two or three customers in the bank…nobody heard anything.”

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 30’s – early 40’s and medium build.  He was wearing a black and green cap, a gray fleece sweatshirt and windpants with an emblem on the left side.

No one was hurt in the robbery and police are still investigating.
