NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - A lot of people talking about the big event this week at Alltel Arena.
Which big event depends on who is talking.
The arena was home Sunday to a spectacular finish to the Southeastern Conference women's basketball tournament, with Tennessee beating LSU, 63-62.
Thursday, The Rolling Stones are to put on a long-awaited show.
Friday morning, the arena staff will finish readying the venue for the first of 10 high school basketball championship games are scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Four northeast Arkansas teams will be among those vying for state titles. The Blytheville boys will play for the class AAAA crown Friday evening at 5:15. Also, the boys teams from Jonesboro (AAAAA) and Buffalo Island Central (AA) will play in their respective state championship games on Saturday. Also, East Poinsett County's girls team will play for the AA girls title Friday afternoon at 3:30.
Alltel Arena general manager Michael Marion says his crews will be putting in a lot of hours but that the arena will be ready for each event.
He says The Rolling Stones show will be like any other that fills the arena, even though the band carries more history than other acts that have played in North Little Rock. Marion says shuttle buses and trolleys will run and that the logisitics will be the same as for any other show.
Marion says he expects the show to be sold out.
