State Wants to Stop Ex-Employee from Collecting Unemployment Benefits

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state lands commissioner is suing the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services to prevent an ex-employee from collecting unemployment benefits.

The employee, Angela E. Mooney, was accused of stealing and was later fired.  The lands office says the theft should disqualify her from receiving unemployment benefits.

Mooney pleaded innocent yesterday in Pulaski County Circuit Court to a theft charge.

According to an arrest report, Mooney, who lives in Little Rock, was arrested in November, nearly two months after admitting to a state police investigator to stealing $3,000 from the lands office in April.
