Morning Storms Rock Region 8

OTWELL, AR - Severe thunderstorms and tornado-like activity have upset much of Region 8 this morning.

The K8 Newsroom has received reports of significant storm damage in southern Craighead County, Jackson County, and in Butler County in southeast Missouri.  Damage has also just been reported (at 7:54 a.m.) in the Beech Grove community in Greene County.  Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has received reports of tornado damage in the Morton area of Woodruff County.

At approximately 6:45, a storm struck the Otwell community in southern Craighead County, near the Poinsett County line.  What is beleived to be strong straightline winds resulted in significant property damage.  Damage has also been reported in Amagon in Jackson County, as well as Qulin in Butler County.

Tornado warnings issued for Cross and Poinsett counties expired at 7:30 a.m.  Currently, all of Region 8 is under a tornado watch.
