WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (AP) _ The idea of a regional airport serving

northeast Arkansas is catching the interest of some officials.

Walnut Ridge and Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce leaders

have presented resolutions seeking federal money for an airport

study to representatives of Congressman Marion Berry and the

state's two senators.

Ted Moskal of the county Chamber of Commerce said a movement to

study the airport needs of the region began about 18 months ago and

most people contacted have expressed support for a study. He

estimates the study would cost about 300-thousand dollars.

Walnut Ridge Mayor Glenn Murphy says some perceive the move as

involving the Walnut Ridge airport only. But the mayor says city

officials aren't necessarily wanting a regional airport located in

Walnut Ridge.
