Central Soccer Player Could Be Deported

March 12, 2006 - Posted at 12:28 p.m. CST

OZARK, Mo. (AP) _ A high school soccer star is in jail after a

routine traffic stop determined he was in the country illegally.

Eighteen-year-old Tobias Zuniga of Springfield was arrested on

Wednesday after he was pulled over because the tinting on his

vehicle's windows was too dark.

Zuniga is a starter for the Central High School's varsity soccer

team. He told police he has lived in the area for five years and

lives with his aunt. He was ticketed for driving without a license

before being handed over to immigration officials.

His classmates are trying to raise the five thousand dollars

needed to get him out of jail pending a court hearing on his fate.

Fellow students and school administrators say they're worried he

won't get a chance to graduate from school in six weeks.
