More Charges Filed in Lonoke Corruption Case

LONOKE, Ark. (AP) _ More charges have been filed against the

former Lonoke police chief and his wife, and a third person has now

been charged in an ongoing corruption investigation.

Jay Campbell, who resigned as police chief last month, and his

wife, Kelly Campbell, each has now been charged with four felony

counts of residential burglary, five counts of obtaining a

controlled substance by fraud and one count of theft by receiving.

In addition, Amy Staley, a dispatcher with the Lonoke Police

Department, was charged with third-degree sexual assault. She is

accused of having sex with a state prison inmate.

Last month, the Campbells and bail bondsmen Bobby Cox and Larry

Gene Norwood were charged with drug-related and other felonies.

Lonoke Mayor Thomas Privett was charged with a misdemeanor for

allegedly using state prisoners to do work at his home.

The Campbells, Cox and Norwood are to be arraigned Monday in

Lonoke County Circuit Court. The mayor is to be arraigned April

third.
