Two Church Vans Involved in Accident; No Fatalities Reported

March 18, 2006 - Posted at 8:59 p.m. CST

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Two church vans carrying Truman State

University students home from a spring-break trip are involved in

an accident early today.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says no one was killed when a car

going the wrong way on Interstate 35 in north Oklahoma City slammed

into the vans head-on.

But the driver of the car was flown to a nearby hospital with

extensive injuries and at least 17 van passengers were also taken

in for treatment.

Allison Schmidt, one of the students, says most of the van

passengers were asleep when the accident occurred.

The vans are from the Liberty Christian Church in Milan

while the university is in Kirksville. The group was

returning from a trip to south Texas.
