HARTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ A South Carolina magistrate has denied
bond for a convicted sex offender arrested in the abductions and
rapes of two teenage girls.
Kenneth Hinson is accused of kidnapping the teens and assaulting
them in an underground room under a shed on his property. The
17-year-olds wriggled out of their bindings and walked to safety.
Police say after a four-day manhunt, an exhausted and thirsty
Hinson approached a relative's back door yesterday a mile from his
home and asked for water. The relative immediately called 9-1-1,
and Hinson was arrested without incident.
Hinson faces charges of kidnapping, rape, burglary and assault.
He faces a second bond hearing on Monday.
