Jonesboro Gearing Up for 17th Annual Event

March 19, 2006 - Posted at 1:08 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) _ Auto buffs in northeast Arkansas are

gearing up for the 17th annual Jonesboro Auto Show next weekend.

The show, sponsored by the University Heights Lions Club, will be

held at the Arkansas State University Convocation Center.

The show is said to be the largest indoor show of specialty

vehicles in the Mid-South. Club spokesman Don Vineyard said this

year space will be allotted for more than 170 vehicles -- 25 more

than in years past.

Vineyard said visitors come from as far away as California, New

Jersey, Texas and Florida. The show will feature custom cars,

street rods, hot rods, modified stock cars, antique cars and trucks

and some late-model vehicles, as well as motorcycles and other

exhibits.

Registration chairman Vernon Drake said last week that 112 cars

or trucks had been signed up for exhibit, plus a couple of

motorcycles.
