Man Who Threatened Deputy, Was Shot, Released from Hospital

March 19, 2006 - Posted at 1:12 p.m. CST

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) _ A man who two weeks ago allegedly

threatened a Washington County deputy and was shot has been

released from a hospital and sent to jail.

Twenty-nine-year-old Paul Monroe of Springdale faces multiple

charges, including aggravated assault and terroristic threatening.

Deputies were called to Prairie Grove on March fifth after a

stabbing. Monroe allegedly threatened sheriff's Sergeant Brian

Comstock with a shard of a large mirror. Comstock repeatedly told

Monroe to drop the glass. Monroe didn't and Comstock shot him in

the abdomen.

A department investigation found that Comstock acted properly

but a state police investigation is still open.

Monroe was discharged from the hospital on Friday and then

booked into the Washington County Jail.
