MARCH 22, 2006 - Posted at 3:37 p.m. CST

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - District Court Judge Shannon Langston set bond at $1 million today for a local man charged first degree murder and being a felon in possession of a handgun for his alleged role in the weekend shooting of a Blytheville woman that may have been his girlfriend.

Leon Jackson, 40, was arraigned this morning on the charges.

Jackson turned himself into Blytheville police at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday.  Police say Kenya Thigpen identified Jackson as her assailant before she died at a local hospital late Saturday night.  Police say she was shot several times in the chest and arms.  Authorities also say she told police that Jackson was her boyfriend.
