Mall at Turtle Creek: Gearing Up for Grand Opening Gala

March 22, 2006 – Posted at 5:12 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR -- The count down is on to the grand opening of the Mall at Turtle Creek and there are only six days to go. With the anticipation of the largest shopping center in Northeast Arkansas opening soon...getting ready for the big gala takes a little planning.

Its one place you won't find any idle hands. The staff at the Mall at Turtle Creek has been working around the clock, trying to get everything in order for Tuesday's grand opening gala.

“We're lining up last minute details as we speak. Monday we'll start seeing production companies come in and setting up lights and staging and carpets and all the fun stuff,” said General Manager Jason Whitley.

And the fun will begin next Tuesday starting at 7:00 p.m. It will be a chance for region 8 to take an "Oscar-like" stroll down the red carpet. You can expect to see "celebs" such as Joan Rivers and Willie Nelson and maybe even an appearance by Elvis.

“Folks who decide to come out and have a good time with us will walk the red carpet into the facility, get checked in and they will get to dance and talk and intermingle with a lot of old Hollywood favorites,” said Whitley.

But before things get kicked off, all 750-thousand square fee of the $100 million dollar building has in tip-top shape.

“I think you will see Jonesboro having more fun that night then they have had for a long time,” said Whitley.

The $100 dollar ticket will not only get you into the door to this exclusive black tie event, but the proceeds from the money raised will benefit the St. Bernards Foundation.

Tickets are still available for the event and can be purchased for $100 by calling (870) 336-2950. Barnes and Noble bookstore will be having a "friends and family" night that is by invitation only. Dillard's will also be hosting a separate open house event. Tickets can be purchased at their location at Indian Mall for $5 and the money raised there will go to benefit local schools. However, the ticket will only allow for admission to shop at Dillard's.
