JONESBORO, AR - An arrest has been made after Wednesday afternoon's fatal stabbing inJonesboro. Sonya Mooney is under arrest for the murder of Veronica Jenkins. It happened around noon Wednesday near the intersection of  South Culberhouse Drive and Cherry Street. It started as a fight between two women, but turned deadly as a relative looked on. The witness says it was a disturbing scene.

"When I pulled up the girl got out of the car and they passed a few words. Then the next thing I knew she was stabbing. Then the girl jumped back in the car and left," says Patrick Kiddy, the victim's cousin and witness.

He said it happened quickly. The fight was carried outside the house, and next, the victim, 27-year old Veronica Jenkins, was stabbed, and left lying on the ground. Kiddy said he didn't understand why the fight began, but sources tell K8 News the altercation was over a boyfriend of one of the women.

The victim's cousin says he didn't know the suspect, later identified as Sonya Mooney. He did say, however, that if a fight was going to break out, a weapon shouldn't have been involved.

"They were gonna fight they should've fought one on one. She didn't have to pull a knife, then she felt she was going to get whooped or something, she had to pull a knife," says Kiddy.

Sonya Mooney turned herself into detectives just before 6:00 p.m.Wednesday. She contacted police and they met her at the Poinsett- Craighead County line on Highway 1 South, where she was arrested without incident. Mooney is in the Craighead County Jail awaiting her probable cause hearing.
