Jonesboro Parks & Rec Honored by State Group

MARCH 23, 2006 - Posted at 4:44 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - Jonesboro's Parks & Recreation Department has been awarded by the Arkansas Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) for its annual Corporate Games.

The Jonesboro Corporate Games were started in 2001 by Parks & Rec, in conjunction with the YMCA.  The event has been held annually at Craighead Forest since 2001.

Each year the competitive events vary and have included paintball, target competition, obstacles, relay races and other unique events.  The event typically produces $1,000 in revenue each year, with proceeds going to Parks & Rec and the ASU Physical Education Major's Club.

The Corporate Games were honored with ARPA's Program of the Year award.
