FARMINGTON, MO - An eastern Missouri woman accused of poisoning one of her friends in order to get closer to the victim's husband will have her first day in court Tuesday.

Tina Vazquez of Bonne Terre faces arraignment at the St. Francis County Courthouse.

The 33-year-old woman was arrested Monday and charged with assault in the first degree.  Prosecutor Wendy Wexler-Horn says she did not seek a charge of attempted murder because it would be harder to prove.

Vazquez is accused of using a potentially lethal chemical used to cure meat.  Investigators believe she got it from her job at a meat company.

Court documents say Vazquez told authorities she wanted to hospitalize Angie Hausler to get closer to Brian Hausler.  Angie Hausler has been released from the hospital.
