LITTLE ROCK (AP) _ Arkansas' three major education lobbying
groups have endorsed a plan to increase funding for the state's
The Arkansas Education Association, Arkansas Association of
Educational Administrators and the Arkansas School Boards
Association yesterday endorsed a legislative committee's proposal
to add 139 million dollars to school funding over the next two
The groups, however, stopped short of endorsing other education
funding measures Governor Mike Huckabee has proposed, including a
cap on the amount districts can spend on administrative costs.
The groups did not specifically endorse a proposal to increase
funding for school facilities. The Legislature has put forth a
proposal to spend 130 million dollars on facilities.
