LITTLE ROCK (AP) _ Arkansas' three major education lobbying

groups have endorsed a plan to increase funding for the state's

school districts.

The Arkansas Education Association, Arkansas Association of

Educational Administrators and the Arkansas School Boards

Association yesterday endorsed a legislative committee's proposal

to add 139 million dollars to school funding over the next two

The groups, however, stopped short of endorsing other education

funding measures Governor Mike Huckabee has proposed, including a

cap on the amount districts can spend on administrative costs.

The groups did not specifically endorse a proposal to increase

funding for school facilities. The Legislature has put forth a

proposal to spend 130 million dollars on facilities.
