LITTLE ROCK (AP) _ The Arkansas Education Department says 70 of
Arkansas' 251 school districts could be affected by a proposal to
cap administrative expenses at eight percent.
Governor Huckabee wants legislators to approve the cap if he
calls a special session.
Education officials say Arkansas' school districts spent an
average of six-point-five percent of their budgets on
administrative costs in 2004-2005. But the officials say methods of
classifying how money is spent can vary among districts and the
figure could change.
The administrative cap is one of several proposals Huckabee has
drafted for a special session. The governor says he hopes to issue
the call for a special session late next week.
