Bush Pushes Immigration Plan Including Guest Worker Provision

March 25, 2006 - Posted at 1:13 p.m. CST

WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Bush is anticipating a Senate

showdown on immigration reform.

He'll have some things to say about it in his regular Saturday

address today touting a guest worker program. On Monday, he's

scheduled to attend a naturalization ceremony in Washington.

Bush says there should be tougher border enforcement. But he

also wants to legalize some of the 12 million undocumented

aliens thought to be on American soil.

Bush knows this is an emotional issue. Yesterday, thousands

protested border crackdown bills at marches in Los Angeles, Phoenix

and other cities. The protests came a day after Bush told reporters

he's hoping the coming debate is a civil one.
