Charities to Benefit as New Mall Gets Ready for Gala Opening

MARCH 27, 2006 - Posted at 7:56 a.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - Shoppers in Region 8 have gotten their first taste of the new Mall at Turtle Creek in Jonesboro.

The mall opened its doors without fanfare over the weekend.  However, a number of events are planned this week to mark the grand opening.

Wednesday, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Afterward, the first 500 shoppers will receive gift bags and all shoppers can register to win a new car, a 42-inch plasma television and a $1,000 shopping spree.

A charitable fundraiser is to be held Tuesday night.  Tickets cost $100 per person and proceeds will be given to St. Bernard's Medical Center's Charitable Foundation.  Another event on Tuesday evening will benefit the Literacy Leagues of Poinsett and Craighead counties.
