JONESBORO, AR -- K8 News has shown several previews of the New Mall at Turtle Creek, but will you really know what to expect when it opens?
Developers say that the new mall is a symbol of the quality of life right here in Region 8...and if that is the case, it's nice to know that we're worth the $107 million dollar investment.
It's an indoor environment with an outdoor feel...a lot like shopping on a Main Street.
"If you notice that our corridors through the mall have some curvature to them. you'll see heavy landscaping throughout the mall, park benches and then on the front side of the center facing highland, you'll see the streetscape where you've got the old French tile, lights and lamp posts, and your benches, your park benches and the streetscape effect," said General Manager Jason Whitley.
With the mall a quarter mile long, you won't want to forget your walking shoes for shopping.
"We are estimating to open up with around 73 vendors and we'll probably have another 12 that will come on by the end of the year," said Whitley.
Doors open for shoppers at 10:00 a.m. during the week and don't close until 9:00 p.m. On Sunday, they're open from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. And don't be surprise if someone asks you if you need some help.
"Every 1,000 square foot of leasable area, we anticipate creating approximately two jobs," said Whitley.
The mall created a total of around 1500 jobs...more population than some of the towns in Region 8.
"That will also include our five out partials. So far we have Chuck E. Cheese, Chilies' and Chick-Filet joining us," said Whitley, "And then by the time you add your anchors, sub-anchors and small shops inside, that's 750,000 square feet."
