Preparations Almost Complete for Gala at The Mall at Turtle Creek

March 28, 2006 -- Posted at 5:47 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR-- Hollywood is coming to Region 8.

“We wanted to bring something that was energetic to Jonesboro, something we felt Jonesboro hadn’t seen in a long time.  We wanted to get that energy and suspense… we thought a little touch of Hollywood would be the charm,” said Jason Whitley, Manager for the Mall at Turtle Creek.

Helping provide that “Hollywood” charm are celebrity impersonators who will help entertain guests throughout the evening.

The celebrities on hand include: Cher, Elton John, Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis and Willie Nelson.

“When people come up to our main entrance they will see some lights and a red carpet,” said Whitley.

On Tuesday afternoon, workers were busy doing last minute touches for the gala, a project that’s been a labor of love for quite a while.

“We’ve been working on the event, probably, going back as far as November or December,” said Whitley.

Two stages are set up inside the rotunda, one stage for the celebrity performers, and one for the band.

“We’ll have band entertainment on the stage back here, and also the lead vocalist in the center stage.  There will be sound all the way down the halls,” said Scott Thompson, Operations Manager for MP Productions.

Tickets for the gala are $100 a piece.

All proceeds from the gala will go to benefit the St. Bernard’s Charitable Foundation.

The Mall at Turtle Creek will officially open Wednesday, March 29th at 10 a.m.

Gift bags will be given to the first 500 people who enter the mall.
