New Mall Celebrates Grand Opening

MARCH 29, 2006 - Posted at 7:41 a.m. CST, updated at 12:52 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - After nearly two years of waiting and anticipation, The Mall at Turtle Creek in Jonesboro formally opened to Region 8 shoppers this morning.

An official grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at  9:30 a.m., and doors to the sparkling, massive new retail facility opened at 10.  The first 500 shoppers through the doors received gift bags, courtesy of the mall.  Registration also got underway for several door prizes, including a new car, a 42-inch plasma television and a $1,000 mall shopping spree.

The first stores at the mall, anchors Target and J.C. Penney, opened for business in October of last year.  The third anchor, Dillard's, held its soft opening on Saturday.

Other stores at the mall include Barnes & Noble; Circuit City (which won't open until May), Victoria's Secret; Bed, Bath & Beyond, and many others.

Watch K8 News at Six tonight for more details on today's grand opening activities.
