LITTLE ROCK, AR - Both Cross County and the city of Osceola have been awarded a total of nearly $10,000 in grants from the Arkansas Department of Economic Development.

The money comes from ADED's Ace Energy Efficiency grants program, which recognizes Arkansas Community of Excellence participants that are committed to energy-efficient improvements that benefit communities and exceed minimum energy code requirements.

Osceola received $2,485 for the removal of 15 and 25-year-old HVAC equipment and replacing the units with high-efficiency gas heating and cooling equipment in the historic building housing the Ohlendorf Civic Center and the Osceola/South Mississippi County Chamber of Commerce.

Meanwhile, Cross County got $6,000 for the removal of 20-year-old heating and cooling equipment and insultating the attic area in the Cross County Museum, a historic building that once served as an elementary school for 33 years, and as a mental health clinic for an additional 35 years.
