United Way to Introduce '211 Call for Help' System to Jonesboro

MARCH 31, 2006 - Posted at 3:42 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR - The United Way of Northeast Arkansas will host a community meeting in Jonesboro next week, to introduce the 2.1.1 Call for Help system.

The 2.1.1 system is similar to the 9.1.1 system, however, it provides information to callers and refers them to agencies which provide direct services such as food, emergency housing, rehabilitation, counseling and more.

According to the United Way, Arkansas is one of only 13 states with no operational 2.1.1. services.

The public meeting is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce.
