Huckabee: Special Session to Start Monday

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Huckabee said today that he will issue the call for a speical legislative session that will begin Monday.

The special session will address a state Supreme Court finding that Arkansas must improve funding for its public schools.

Huckabee informed legislators of the session during a conference call this afternoon.  The governor said the session will start at 1 p.m. Monday.

The governor said the session will include a proposal to ban smoking in most public spaces.

Yesterday, members of the Arkansas Senate reached a compromise on a set of proposals to fund for the state's 251 school districts.  The House had earlier lined up behind a bill.
