LITTLE ROCK (AP) _ The state Public Service Commission has kept
a nine-point-nine percent rate increase by Entergy Arkansas from
going into effect today. The regulatory agency says it will
investigate the need for the additional money.
The P-S-C is already investigating a six percent Entergy
Arkansas rate increase that went into effect last fall. The two
probes are to be combined.
Entergy says it had a 212 million-dollar shortfall last year
and needs the hike to make up the money. Entergy says higher prices
for natural gas and other factors require the hike. The utility
says it will not profit from the increase.
