Storm Damage Assessment Continuing in Bootheel

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - State emergency officials report more than a thousand homes and businesses in eastern Missouri were damaged or destroyed by storms in the past week.

The string of storms killed 28 people nationwide, including three in Missouri.

Officials from the state Emergency Management Agency report more than 1,000 structures damaged or destroyed in Dunklin and Pemiscot counties, as well as St. Charles, Ralls and Pettis counties.

Disaster officials have yet to complete their review of Caruthersville.

State disaster officials now report that electricity has been restored to half the residents of Caruthersville.
