Crittenden County Trooper Killed in Line of Duty to be Post-Humously Honored by State Police

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The family of Arkansas State Police Corporal Mark Carthron will be among those honored at the ASP's Annual Awards Ceremony & Luncheon tomorrow in North Little Rock.

Carthron was killed in the line of duty in September of last year during a pursuit of two robbery suspects in Crittenden County.  Carthron was picking up a spike strip when he was struck by another trooper's car in a freak accident.  He was 31 years old.

Among the awards to be presented during the ceremony are the 2005 Trooper of the Year, and the 2005 Civilian Employee of the Year.  Presentations of departmental medals of valor will also be awarded.

The program begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Wyndham Hotel in North Little Rock.
