LITTLE ROCK, AR - An oak tree is to be planted on the grounds of the state Capitol to honor the late state Senator Jerry Bookout of Jonesboro.

The Capitol Arts and Grounds Commission has approved a plan to have the white oak planted on the south lawn.

Bookout died of cancer in February.  He was 72.

Bookout served four House terms and four Senate terms, for a total of 32 years in the Legislature.
